A Bit About Stephan
Life has a way of redirecting our paths in unexpected ways. In 2017, a stroke changed everything for Stephan—ending his career and his ability to coach golf. Faced with balance problems and serious eyesight constraints, he could have chosen to step back from the game entirely. Instead, he discovered lawn bowls during his medical retirement, and with it, a new passion and purpose.
What began as rehabilitation became excellence. Stephan not only rebuilt his own abilities but thrived, earning Zonal and Provincial colours and winning two Bronze medals at the South African Disabled Bowls tournament. This personal journey through adversity gave him something textbooks cannot teach: a deep understanding of what it takes to overcome mental barriers and perform under challenging circumstances.

"The road to top performance in bowls is 30% technique and 70% mental strength. I help you master that 70%."
Experience
As a qualified life coach through the Fletcher Institute in America and member of Integer Network, I bring a holistic coaching approach that addresses the mental and emotional foundations of performance in sport and life. My coaching focuses on the person behind the performer—building the mindset, emotional regulation, and mental strength that directly impacts your results, whether on the field or in daily life.

I don't teach technical skills. Instead, I work alongside your coaches and mentors to address what's often overlooked: the psychological barriers preventing you from performing at your best. While technical coaches focus on skill and strategy, I work on developing the mental game that allows you to execute under pressure and navigate life's challenges with resilience.
Why Mental Coaching Matters
Throughout my career—from training Christian leaders across Africa to teaching adults how to work with children, from building businesses to coaching golfers and bowlers—one truth has remained constant: technical ability only takes you so far. What separates good players from great ones is mental resilience.

My own experience fighting through disability and rebuilding my abilities from the ground up taught me this lesson personally. I understand the frustration of knowing what to do but struggling to execute. I've lived through the mental battles that happen between your ears during competition. And I've developed the tools and frameworks to help you win those battles.

Whether you're a club player wanting to improve consistency, a competitive athlete seeking that extra edge, or someone working through personal challenges affecting your game, I'm here to help you develop the mental strength that transforms performance.
